From Our Corner of the World

Whoops, I did it again!

Lucy and I were out for a walk when I got momentarily distracted and stepped in a hole. I went down like a tree—and broke my right ankle. (2.5 years ago, it was my left one!) Fortunately, it was a minor fracture—no surgery or cast needed. It’s healing well, and I can walk on it a bit with the boot. By mid-July, I should be mostly back on my feet and off the scooter.

I asked the orthopedic doctor, “How often do ankle breaks not require surgery?” and he replied, “Not often!” So now I’ve managed to break both ankles without surgery. Talk about lucky breaks—if you can call it that!

As you can imagine, I’ve been spending a lot of time with my foot elevated. Since it’s my right foot, I haven’t been able to drive—so Brien has been carting me and my knee scooter to everything from doctor’s appointments to showings. He’s been such a good sport, juggling the shopping, household chores, and taking care of me. I’m so grateful for him!

We’ve also been busy working on our commercial property in Skagit County, which is now for sale or lease—we’re open to either, depending on which opportunity comes first. You can find the listing details in the New Listings section below.

Over Memorial Day weekend, our granddaughters came to visit! We had a blast at Bullwinkle’s, and they met new cousins during dinner at Tyler and Estelle’s house in Renton. Afterward, we headed to Shelton, where Brien’s sister manages a horse facility—and the girls got to go riding!

One highlight of the month was a mountain drive where we discovered Panorama Point at Baker Lake—absolutely stunning!
